These are the three levels of self-aware self-care I’ve found in my life. These are things I have been doing for years, and they are things I want to do for years to come. I’ve learned that we need to be vigilant about it.
I learned that I’ve been diligent about setting my goals at work, Ive been diligent about setting my goals at home, and Ive been diligent about being diligent about my self-care. The three levels are all self-aware things, but how we choose to do them is as important as what we do.
We need to make sure we have enough time with our self-care before we can make the choices we want to make. I’ve been able to do this for years, and Ive learned that it always happens, and that’s why Ive learned that it always happens for everyone else. Therefore, if we don’t want to do our self-care and try to be proactive they’re going to get in our way.
Self-awareness means being aware of what you want to do and what you feel like doing. Our self-care should be about our health, and not something else. If we try to be proactive, we may end up taking care of ourselves in ways that are less than ideal. We might make poor choices about our diets. We may miss the ‘me’ time we need to recharge, and focus on the ‘we’ instead.
We have a number of choices here. We can either make them self-explanatory or we can put them to a specific purpose. Our goal is to take care of ourselves. If we want to look good, we can do that.
Our last day on Earth, we were the healthiest and happiest, and we spent a lot of the time doing things that we shouldn’t have. We did things we shouldn’t have. We ate too much and didn’t exercise. We got sick too often and didn’t get enough sleep. We drank too much. We did too many drugs and too many things that were actually good for us. We could have done things that were better.
I’ve been a nurse for over 30 years now. I’ve seen the effects of bad habits before. In my youth, I had a tendency to stop exercising when I got sick, and was just as likely to drink as I am now. I’ve seen people who had a tendency to eat too much. I’ve seen people who had a tendency to drink too much. I’ve seen people who had a tendency to take too many drugs.
When you’re at a loss for a reason, you’re not really able to stop doing something you’ve done. You’re stuck on the problem. You’re stuck on the solution.

I was going to tell you one more thing: if you’re an idiot for having this attitude, it’s probably not a matter of your attitude. Ive seen people who were very smart about what they were doing, and when they walked into a bar for a drink, I think they were pretty smart. They were very smart when they walked into the bar without a drink. They were pretty smart when they walked into the bar without a drink.
